FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE
College Summer Project- Future of Agriculture
Extent of project- 8 weeks
The project was based on creating a solution for future farmers and imagining and creating solutions on how future of agriculture will look like.
Initially we looked at nomadic agriculture to understand how agriculture began. We understood and looked at the history of agriculture and what is happening at present in the country in the agricultural sector.
Some pain points in present condition of value chain-
- Most of the government decisions are based on the consumer's paying ability and not on farmer's cultivation methods.
- In Kerala, villagers are paying a heavy price for cashew's as it has been exposed to pesticide- Edosulfan for many years.
- Indian agriculture's recovery from famines and droughts gave rise to a number of plans and ideas. However, these plans have not been implemented to the fullest and farmers across the country still face injustice.
- Farmers can do cultivation according to their wish but fail to sell it at the prices they want
- An average of 12,000 farmers have committed suicide in the past several years due to debt
- The magic of the green revolution in Punjab is fading as land and water bodies have been poisoned.

Later then we looked at overall future trends in all the sectors and how can they be relevant to agriculture in future. Based on the future trends, final proposal of agro and breeding hub was made considering all the factors found during research.
